Last month we teamed up with Business News Wales on the Connect event series to support young and aspiring entrepreneurs to expand their networking prowess.
The series, which ran from 30th June to 7th July, tackled a wide range of topics starting with importance of networking with a purpose; how understand your own communication style; and how to craft the perfect pitch. Each session was run in collaboration with our supporting partners Global Welsh, DISCsimple and Natwest Business with an exciting lineup of guest speakers including: Russell Dalgleish, Sarah Owen, Laura Mallows, Sina Yamani, Dan Swygart and more!

In this session we heard from master networker and Chairman of the Scottish Business Network Russell Dalgleish on how to build a network with purpose online and offline; Zara May, Head of Community & Operations at GlobalWelsh on how you can utilise the Welsh Diaspora to build your network; and Dan Swygart, Founder and CEO of Alpacr, the social network connecting the world through travel and adventure and how you can take your network global.

In our second Connect session we heard from Sarah Owen and Emma Melrose from DISCsimple who gave us an insight into how to understand your own communication style and those other others using the DISC framework.
Natwest Business | Crafting the perfect 60 second pitch
If you haven’t got a clear 60-second pitch, you could be missing out on opportunities to grow your business every day. Even in such uncertain times, you never know when the opportunity to support others may arise, so it is important to be able to explain your business quickly and simply. In this session we heard from NatWest Business Builder team as we break the 60-second or ‘elevator’ pitch down into its component parts.
