Job Overiew

We’re looking for a Lead Barista to run our Grangetown café - the social hub at the heart of our community. This role is about more than serving excellent coffee. It’s about creating a welcoming space where members, guests and the Tramshed Tech team can connect, collaborate and enjoy great service.

As Lead Barista, you’ll oversee the café’s daily operations, deliver consistently high standards, and support the wider community experience. You’ll lead by example on the till, train and support new team members, and make sure the café runs smoothly during the busy rhythm of meetings and events.

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 2+ years as a barista, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role

  • Comfortable with food prep and hospitality service

Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Confident in managing cafe operations and supporting a small team

  • Excellent customer service with a proactive, can-do attitude

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and reliable under pressure

Bonus

  • Food safety certification (or willingness to complete)

  • Interest in creative or tech community culture

At the heart of our Grangetown site is our café, a place where ideas are exchanged over great coffee. We’re now looking for a Lead Barista to run the show day-to-day, serve up excellent coffee, and support our wider community experience.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Set the tone for a warm, professional café experience

  • Handle any escalated issues with care and confidence

  • Foster a positive, approachable atmosphere for members and guests

Meetings & Events

  • Support refreshment needs for in-house meetings and events

  • Help with set-up, guest service and pack-down

  • Work with the Community team to deliver a seamless experience

Stock & Inventory

  • Monitor and manage stock levels for coffee, food and supplies

  • Place orders and coordinate deliveries

  • Reduce waste through portion control and good storage practices

Cash Handling & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate till and payment procedures

  • Support cash reconciliation and basic reporting

  • Help track sales and performance metrics

Health, Safety & Cleanliness

  • Maintain high hygiene standards across all café areas

  • Ensure food and drink are prepared and stored safely

  • Carry out regular checks and report any maintenance issues
